Einige der frühesten Aufnahmen von Wes Montgomery

Der 22-jährige Student Philip Kahl gehörte Mitte der 1950er Jahre zum Kreis um die Montgomery Brothers und hatte die Chance, mehrere Aufnahmen der Brüder zu machen. Diese Liveaufnahmen stammen aus dem Turf Club, einem bekannten Club der Stadt. Zev Feldman von Resonance Records erzählt, dass die Bänder lange Zeit im Besitz von Buddy Montgomery waren:

„We first obtained these recordings in 2011 from Ann Montgomery (the widow of Wes’s brother, pianist Buddy Montgomery). Ann came to us with news Buddy had copies of these recordings, plus never before published photos taken at The Turf Club. As you’ll hear, these recordings are a miraculous discovery full of inspired performances.“
